From the information received under the RTI Act 2005, it is seen that the income received/enjoyed through perquisites by the Ministers of Tamilnadu are not included in the total income as required u/s. 17 (2) of the Income Tax Act. It amounts to serious lapse on the part of the officials responsible for effecting TDS as well as the officials responsible for reporting the value of perquisites allowed to the Ministers. Likewise the officials responsible for making deduction towards professional tax have committed lapse by not deducting the same. The officials of Corporation of Chennai have equally failed in carrying out their duty to ensure the collection of tax. The following are the perks enjoyed by the Ministers: a. Rent free bungalow with free furnishing (furniture and electrical appliances). b. Free electricity and water. c. House Rent Allowance. d. Sweeper, Gardener and Mazdoor. The approximate value of the above listed perks is assessed to be more than Rs. 5 lakhs per Minister per year. The tax due to be levied may be of Rs. 1.5 lakhs, which roughly works out to Rs. 3 crores for the past 7 years. Accordingly it is requested to proceed with actions as below: i) Proceed against the officials concerned of Pay and Accounts Office, Legislative Secretariat, PWD and Corporation of Chennai for their lapse. ii) Take action to recover the due tax amounts which are left not deducted for the past periods. | ||

| Grievance | in chennai-78, mgr nagar, kottambbam street, door no.28 there was cottage industrial shed (CIS) constructed by the Tamilnadu slum clearance board was rented to Mrs. S.Ramani w/o R. savariappan, residing at no.3, Oomathurai street, mgr nagar, chennai-78 in the year 1997, for runing wooden furniture industry. PIO, TNSCB, in RTI reply letter no. E8/2029/dt 15.02.2012 informed me, at presently above CIS was manufacturing bakery items. Lesser was violated terms and coniditions of 5(i). In year 2011, F.Steela estate officer-8, TNSCB has given NOC (093/E/E.O.8/11 dt 02.03.11) for getting water and sewer connection. In NOC mention that land was allotted given lease and SALE for allottee Mrs. RAMANI. Lesser has got water and sewer connection in her name ( not in the name of chairman, TNSCB). lesser S.Ramani has informed in her indemnity bond to CMWSSB, that she had constructed a building in the above CIS. TNSCB, Estate office-8, in case no. 5160/enquiry/c/2011 dt of enquiry 19.11.2012 by tamilnadu state information comission informed that TNSCB does not made aggreement for above CIS with lesser. But Lesser has submitted lease agreement copy dated 01.7.1997 (9 pages) to CMWSSB for getting new connection. kindly take necessary action against offical 1.offical of TNSCB not made aggremeent with lesser. 2.offical of metro water not verify records submitted by s.Ramani for getting new water and sewer connection. 3.cancel leasse allotment for for runing wooden furniture industry at presently without permission from TNSCB. | ||
